Q. Why do I need to do a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course?

A.  The NSW Liquor Laws prescribe responsible service of alcohol training for the liquor industry.  Any person involved with the sale, supply & service of alcohol in NSW needs to complete a face to face RSA course that has been approved by OLGR.

Q. Can I use an RSA certificate gained in NSW, in QLD and vice versa?A. NO.  Each State has different requirements in relation to RSA.  NSW for example, do not recognise RSA certificates from any other state.  To work in the sale, supply & service of alcohol in NSW you must complete a face to face or online course provided by a training organisation approved to deliver RSA by the NSW Office of Liquor Gaming & Racing.  CHS Training is an OLGR approved provider of both forms of RSA training.

Q. Do I learn how to serve alcohol (e.g. pull a beer) in the RSA course?

A. NO.  RSA is a theory based course. We only use water to simulate alcohol for standard drink measurements.

Q. Is this RSA training Nationally accredited?

A. Yes.  RSA (SITHFAB201) is from the nationally accredited hospitality package.  It is important to note, however, as each State has different liquor licensing laws, that RSA certificates may not be recognised as adequately meeting the licensing requirements of a particular state.
